About Me

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain. This quote pretty much sums up everything about traveling for me..

It is very rewarding when people approach me through mails or in person asking for permission to borrow content from my blog for their research publications or a social cause. It makes me feel writing my posts are worthwhile. Cuz traveling for me is not about how many places I have visited. It is about how many things I have learnt about that place. Hence, through my blog, I try my best to explore every small village, city I go to and help people find more info when they are seeking out for details.. (Click here to know more about who I am)

With this platform, I want share my stories and personal experiences of being on the road, largely exploring my own beautiful country- India. I share my experiences without any filters, so that it can give you an idea of how and what to expect while visiting these places. On special requests by a few readers, I have tried to include a few itineraries as well. Also, this is my humble attempt at promoting local and responsible tourism.

Well.. I choose the name “The Lost Lander” ‘coz it aptly describes me.. Lander is a part of a spacecraft that lands on an unknown surface. Similarly, I’m someone who likes to pursue the unknown. I always end up doing things and being at places which might never have been intended when started.. (No, I didn’t pick up this name after ‘Vikram- the Lander’ lost signals; I’ve been blogging as ‘TheLostLander’ since 2012). But at the end of it, whatever I do and wherever I end up are the things which make me the person I am..

That said, my name is Hitha, an Automobile engineer by profession, currently working in Bangalore (Click here to know what I do). Hailing from the land of hills and coffee, naturally- I’m a mountain girl and adventure is in my blood.

The waters always excite me- be it swimming in there, chasing a school of fishes, studying the structure of a marine being, rowing a boat, exploring the deep sea or perhaps manning one of those submarines someday 😉

I’m a person who accepts the little things of life the way they come across.. I believe there is so much for us to explore in our immediate surroundings. So, that’s why I pack my bag whenever possible and set out to bring back truck loads of stories and memories from the unknown roads 🙂

  1. Hi! I stumbled across your site serendipitously. Thank you for the informative and passionate writing. I found you while searching for photos of Shiva and Parvati’s dancing poses near the west entrance of the Chidambaram temple.

Question: Would you know where I could find more photos of the friezes, Ideally, all 108 of them?
