About Me

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

– Mark Twain

This quote pretty much sums up everything about traveling for me.

Hello and THANK YOU for dropping by! My name is Hitha and this is my personal blog about my travel stories. I was born in Kodagu, a small hill district in the western Ghats region in India and I am currently working as an automobile engineer in Bangalore. In this blog, I document about travelling around India, alongside stories of time-travel through some good personal memories. I love travelling because I believe that is how I have learnt whatever I have (I only wish, that I could go back in time and un-school my childhood and had travelled more). My preferred travelling style is budget travel and backpacking. I like it because that’s how I believe I can interact with more people and learn more. But once in a while, I also like to unwind and treat myself with some luxury.

About this Website

In this website, I primarily write about travelling in India. For me, travelling is not just sitting in a vehicle and moving my butt from one place to another. It is seeing, observing and exploring food, culture, language, people, wildlife, even technology and everything in between. Travel is a wide ocean for me and I will talk about everything that I find interesting about my country, India through this blog.

It is very rewarding when people approach me through mails or in person asking for permission to borrow content from my blog for their research publications or social causes. It makes me feel that writing my posts are worthwhile. I value authenticity of information very highly. Hence, whatever I document on my blog are based on my personal experiences and based on the stories that I hear from the people I meet during my travels. Sometimes I share my itineraries and sometimes I narrate stories. But all, based on personal experiences. (Click here to know more about who I am)

Since you are here on my site, I would really appreciate to hear from you about your experience on my site. Your feedback means a lot to me. Please drop in your comments below, or write to me directly on my mail ID: hithazn@yahoo.com

Publications

I have authored two travel books and they are available for purchase on Amazon.

  • The first book, ‘My Spiti Sojourn’ is based on my personal experience of travelling alone, on a backpacking tour to Spiti Valley. It talks about my thoughts, feelings and struggles as a south Indian girl travelling in the northern part of India.
  • The second book, ‘Stories Through Souvenirs’ explores a wide range of stories from the road through a series of collectibles I have accumulated over the years of travelling across India. I share my stories about the people I met and experiences I have had during my travels .

  1. Hi! I stumbled across your site serendipitously. Thank you for the informative and passionate writing. I found you while searching for photos of Shiva and Parvati’s dancing poses near the west entrance of the Chidambaram temple.

Question: Would you know where I could find more photos of the friezes, Ideally, all 108 of them?
